Card and Award and some thought

I did some cards but I'm not uploading from my camera as fast because my project 365 I wait to a good number of pics to upload to the computer. So here you go finally a card.

My blog friend and constant visitor Elizabeth from Brazil awarded me. Elizabeth Obrigada ! (Thank you !) This is really a sweet award. Take a peek at her blog she has awesome creations and Scrap Layouts.


Before yesterday I was really shocked and sad with some news I found out , in Coordinating Collections blog, (this is my monthly kit). On this topic .
I participate constantly in the forum, this lady was well known of us, she was one time DT guest designer and she was always so sweet in her comments to our creations and a very active scrapper.
This stroke me how Scrapbooking has such a value, because going in her gallery or just looking at the post there with some of her creations I could see she talked through the pages of her layouts about herself, her life, her children....I thought wow ! what a precious thing her family now will have, her legacy and her sentiments kept safe in her layouts. We are such a small part of this life, life is such a breath of air....and we have everyday to be Grateful, Enjoy each day, and leave our mark ....So I begin to think everyday how can I enjoy more each day and leave my mark and legacy to my child....?

Well as part of the plan for that, Friday was my last day of work. Now I can rest more, and prepare for the big moment of my life and prepare things to Lucas. Enjoy my house, my moment , my family, my days. Altough it will be strange after so many years working, I do not feel any regret, I'm just so excited and anxious for the labor of love that is coming to our house.

Pregnancy Word Art Ali Edwards
Each day I learn more about this program more I think PSE is worth every single penny.

Today here we woke up with snow, and later rain, very yucky !
I didn't go to work, because I was not feeling well for the last couple of days, my B. pressure was down and I was really exhausted. I think to be pregnant in winter time, in a place that has snow is not a good idea. But I could not choose. Went to pre Natal today, pressure was normal as all of it is normal. I hit the big 200 lbs, pretty scary, for the first time in my life I have fat hands, lol maybe you could notice in the video.
But I'm still happy to see all the miracle I'm producing, I'm actually annoyed that people just come to me to say:
Oh take you time now, you won't sleep
Oh you gonna get much more tired
oh this and that....

Makes me think: Don't you have something positive to say ?!

I think people are so used to pregnancy that they don't realize the big miracle it is.
And I have so much fun to see my baby moving and making mountains on my belly, and I can't wait to see him.

Altered Clipboard - Memory

After you play with your pictures on Photoshop it adds another twist on your projects, the pictures I show here they are going to be used on projects they are not complete layouts yet, so this is a example how your Photoshop pictures enhance your project, I added Ali Edwards digital word art and some swirl brushes.
The Clipboard is from SU I think its 9x9, I did a coat of White acrylic paint, square papers, crackle medium and yellow paint.
Hambly Rub Ons I'm not a rub on fan but Hambly is the only brand I do trust. They really work
well even in this crackle surface.
Butterfly Mirror Heidi Swapp, TAC stamp with staz-on , definitions by MM and papers & ribbon.

Bliss 18 weeks Layout with home made overlay

One more layout for my pregnancy little album, this time I decided to a simple layout and top it with a home made overlay, I think the most economical way to create your overlays.
Just buy a digital overlay print in transparency and Voila !
The fun is you can change colors and use on your pictures or print by itself as I did here.
I re sized my overlay to the same size of my layout, and printed on transparency.
That would work for a card for example if you have a digital overlay with swirls or you have a brush, just brush your canvas print on transparency and cut to card size.
So no need of white staz-on. Maybe I will try that, to show you guys.

Baby's First Mini Book

Oh boy it was snowing here today, and a lot, I feel like a elephant walking in my heavy coat and this huge belly :D

Here another book for Lucas to write down his first, although of course he is going to have his scrapbook, this will a faster way to document and later on I have all ready in details, things like first time you came home and so on.
I did a PDF and you can download it here.
The Circle on top has his name and later on will have his date of birth too, the circle is from The Slice, the boat is from a kit from SU,papers from MM, the PDf is already for a 7" square then with the designer paper the book size is 8x8 . Oh and you know this ribbon, it came as package of my diaper bag, too good to just trash :)

Baby Frame

My friend Natalie, (Hi Natalie !) :) gave me this wood dog from Michaels. I bought couple of more animals they came all decorated and its just like a buck or so. Took flat canvas (5x7) from Michaels you can find in the art section where the artist canvas are, put a 2 coats of yellow acrylic paint. Background done with stamping punched with my crop -a - dile and that s it !

Maybe after picture I will put some more small embelishment on the other side but I have to wait the pictures.


I'm getting there, so many plans so little time. So, little energy :)

2008 Hybrid template

Another hybrid layout for with the help of a digital template, I think templates are so helpful to help us to compile many pictures we want to talk about in a variety of shapes that would give us more work to do by hand.
You can get the template and tutorial here, from CK magazine.

I bought a new camera for me as my last gift to myself before I leave work.
And was practicing on my favorite model right now :) It's amazing how he poses for pictures, he is so used of me taking pictures of him that he looks right into the camera.

I think I discover why the headaches, I was reading yesterday and noticed that if I put the book far, like on my lap I was not reading the words clear,,, I don;t know but just in case I schedule already a Ophthalmologist. Let see what happens, here was feeling like 11F today of pretty cold !

Had to share this --off topic

I spent 8 years of my life in this place, from there I came here. Feels more like home to me today than Rio de Janeiro where I was born,Fortaleza in the State of Ceara is in northeast of Brazil.
My father was from there , my husband is from there...
This place has special memories in my heart, it really made me cry to see my city so beautiful as always was..place where I walked and ate extraordinary food, place I used to see my Dad go fishing..and could eat fresh fish...
Today I have their accent when I speak Portuguese and I'm really proud of it....
So hope you enjoy, ignore what they speak, as they show some of features of this city, and maybe one day if you think to go to Brazil stop in Fortaleza you won't regret.

Layout - What are you looking ?

The collage of Snoopy photos were made with these quick collages , you can download them for free here and also there is a video tutorial there if you have PSE. Another example how digital can help scrapbooking, I'm becoming addicted to these collages because its great that you can fit many pictures about a particular story you want to tell.
Let me know on comments if you would like to see some tutorials of PSE to help you with your photos, I don' t think this is something just for scrapbooking, but maybe you want do things like that for your personal phtos that you keep.You could use these collages even in a frame. so, let me know.

Sending love card

Oh boy, snow is coming, it's cold And I don't want leave my house for nothing , so I will do some lasagna, yummy, I love cooking, and love to collect recipes , I watch food network all the time. But just the programs I like, some chefs are not my style, Paula Deen is too greasy stuff, and baking, but she is nice I like to see her, but Carlos once saw me watching Paula's party, and got aggravated that she puts the finger on the food and puts in her mouth and back on the food,lol
And and he comment that I stop to pay attention and is actually true !!
Well, Brazilians don't like to put fingers on their food, at least when I used to leave there. I remember in Florida ppl would look to us strange because we used napkins to eat pizza (because they give fork and knife same zero), well and I got surprise they use their hand, after paying, driving, whatever, I'm not a germ freak at all, but some things I don't know to me just not right.

Anyway, got my Project 365 kit today yeah I can begin to print my pictures so fun ! Tomorrow we will brave the snow for the maternity tour so hope is not too bad outside, I'm late on this !

Start Layout

I did want to put my commitment on a layout, and the challenge for this week at OLW was great.
Start. Starting to write 5 things I'm grateful for each day. And reading Simple Abundance you can read more about this book and what my post about that here.

Beginning to feel really tired. And my headache comes and goes, just on one side, and to help me I had to go to extra app today, I have yeast infection. Great ! All I wanted !
But God is good, life is great and baby is great !

Boy, she has so many things there now, and punches, I even bought a Monogram stamp, that of course is much cheaper in Walmart. Funny how the same line ca be affordable at Walmart and expensive at Michaels.

Waterfall Mini Album Workshop

Hybrid Layout

What is a Hybrid Layout? To use digital elements with traditional scrapbook. To me , it's just one more way to create with pictures and to have more resources for embellishments.
And another great thing: it's CHEAP. Because you can recreate things so many times, I always liked to play with brushes, but now with also digital overlays things got even better.

Another objective I have for the new year, is to focus in photos + story. Simple and direct to the point.
I love to browse and have tons of blogs on my reader with people that certainly do amazing work with the layouts, but sometimes I wonder that if my son wants to know more about that picture or he will be lost with tons of things I put in the page. Remember, this is a personal opinion, some people are artistic with less journaling, and that's fine just not my thing.

Let me tell you what I did with this page:

- First I took my picture and used this templates on Photoshop Elements (PSE) to create the word on the picture , then I printed at home.

- Second I created a blank canvas on PSE of 8 1/2 x 11 " and create this frame of words with Ali Edwards Brush collection.
Printed on White Cardstock

- I Took some other Word Art Brushes from Ali and did many sizes and colors on a blank document and printed on transparency , cut out the one I wanted to use and went around with black permanent marker to give it a distress and to highlight over the felt .

Used a stencil before my journaling , and put everything together. This was one of the pictures from this Xmas and sorry a very personal journal to my husband there. ;)

I feel like sometimes doing my journaling in English because I know although my son will know Portuguese, English will be his dominant language, so this is for him and for us.

It's good to be back on track, although I was not able to finish as much as I wanted because some pregnancy issues that knocked me down a bit. But I'm feeling much better now.

New Years in Summer

Please ignore the language and see the video, this is the new year at Copacabana Beach in Brazil,
its summer there, and when you see the people most of them wear white, its a tradition, to bring peace, so almost 85% of people wear white to celebrate the New Year, I miss that ! Real Celebration ! In Brazil the party starts at midnight, after the fireworks begin music. At home people go out to friends house to celebrate and wish happy new year, or go to parties. So you dont see people back home at midnight to sleep, instead after midnight you see more people in the streets going some place else after celebrate with their family, too much fun !

I hope your New Year is starting well !
